Go to Individualized Shared Living RFP FAQ's U.S. Department of Education Announces Several Grants The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) recently announced several grants that have deadlines in July and August 2010. These grants are for several purposes, including improving special education services for children with disabilities; vocational rehabilitation services for American Indians with disabilities; the Centers for Independent Living (CIL) Program; and universal design and technologies for children with orthopedic disabilities. Read the specific grant announcement for information about who may apply for each grant. Social Security Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program You are invited to submit a proposal in accordance with the requirements of the enclosed solicitation number SSA-RFP-09-0010G, "Employment Networks (EN) for the Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program." The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is the centerpiece of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999. This program provides Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities more choices for receiving employment services. Under this program the Social Security Administration (SSA) is issuing Tickets to eligible beneficiaries who, in turn, may assign those Tickets to an Employment Network (EN) of their choice to obtain employment services, vocational rehabilitation services or other support services necessary to maximize their economic self-sufficiency through work opportunities. An EN shall be either an agency or instrumentality of a State (or political subdivision of the State) or a private entity that assumes responsibility for the coordination and delivery of employment, vocational rehabilitation or other support services to those beneficiaries who have assigned their Tickets to the EN. All DDPC meetings are held in Albany, NY unless otherwise noted. Under law, the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC) meetings and DDPC Standing Committee meetings are open meetings. If the public wants to attend, they can attend as observers. Participants may be asked to leave during breaks in the deliberations and when the meeting goes into executive session. If more information, please contact the DDPC directly. People First Language The DDPC strictly adheres to and encourages the use of people first language.
